Trudeau's Gaff Reveals Truth About Canadian Gun Control

- News & Commentary -

The Post Millennial (the infamous Canadian News pundit) reported that Canadian Supreme Leader Justin Trudeau had a slip of the tongue as of late, but much like our own gaffer-in-chief, his mistake only revealed his true intentions.

During a press conference, Trudeau said regarding Canada's gun ban, "Whether it's our most recent initiatives on banning—sorry, on freezing the market for firearms, which will start moving us in the right direction over the medium and long term."

A few things that we need to take note of.

Firstly, it is important that U.S. citizens pay attention to Canadian politics. The adage that Canada is 50 years ahead of the U.S.--as far as progressive legislation goes--is not so much an adage as it is a sobering reality.

Secondly, even if Mr. Trudeau is not trying to impose a total gun ban and confiscation, he made no distinction during his presser between handguns, shotguns, assault rifles, or, for that matter, artillery pieces. This is key because when our government says it's only about banning assault rifles, they're telling the truth... for now. What they really mean is that they will eventually get to taking away all your guns, but are simply starting with the low-hanging fruit.

Thirdly, he is talking about a gun ban. Just as the left uses the guise of red-flag laws and assault rifle bans to hide their true intentions of taking away the right of self-defense, he is using language such as "gun freeze" without mentioning any plans to "unfreeze" what is about to be frozen.
