Daubert: 4th of July Shooting Indicates Broader Trend

- News & Commentary -

For the last several days, there has been a deeply disturbing trend across social media networks.

Posts including “F the 4th of July" and disturbing connections to the recent Supreme court decision overturning Roe to a lack of general freedom in the U.S. have been plaguing Twitter and Facebook feeds over the weekend.

It is hard to understand why people would have such disdain for the freest country in the world, where there is no limit to what a person can accomplish.

It is one thing to read hate, but it is another thing entirely to feel it. This happened during a fourth of July parade in Chicago, where a shooter showed that they not only hate this country but that they hate its people.

During a 4th of July parade in a middle-class town in Highland Park, IL., a man in an elevated position, according to some witnesses’ statements, fired into the crowd, killing at least 5 people.

People scattered in every direction. Some other witness statements reported that the man was on the sidewalk and took a knee, behavior such as was promoted on social media over the weekend, before he began shooting. Law enforcement officials have neither confirmed nor denied any one witness account.

As of right now, 16 people have been reported as shot and 5 people as dead. Communities are locked down while police are going through camera footage from businesses and other locations in the area. officials are reportedly scouring people's cell phones to see if there is any evidence caught on camera. The shooter is still on the loose, and the goal of the police department is simply to catch him as soon as possible.
