Elon Musk Offers to Buy ALL of Twitter, Transform it to a Free Speech Platform

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now officially offered to buy the whole of Twitter, after criticizing the social media giant, a platform Mr. Musk views as a "public town hall," for not advocating on the side of free speech.

According to the Associated Press, "Twitter Inc. said in a regulatory filing on Thursday that Musk, currently the company’s biggest individual shareholder, has proposed buying the remaining shares of Twitter that he doesn’t already own at $54.20 per share, an offer worth more than $43 billion."

The AP went on the clarify that this offer to buy the rest of Twitter is his "best final offer," but that Mr. Musk has not provided any further details on the proposed buy.

Elon Musk Fighting for Free Speech?

“I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy,” Musk said in the filing.

“However, since making my investment I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company.”

This information came to the public as Mr. musk Tweeted out his "offer" early in the morning on April 14.
