Horrifying Details Of Texas School Shooting Sparks Debate Over 2nd Amendment Rights

Updated: May 27, 2022

In the afternoon of Tuesday, May 24, an armed 18-year-old entered a Texas elementary school and began shooting...

The gunman fatally shot at least twenty people before a border patrol agent entered the school and succeeded in killing the gunman.

The agent reportedly entered without backup and was wounded by the killer, who had barricaded himself inside the school, but luckely the agent was still able to get back out. The shooting took place in Robb elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, a city of about sixteen thousand.

Governor Greg Abbot said in response, “Texans across the state are grieving for the victims of this senseless crime and for the community of Uvalde. Cecilia and I mourn this horrific loss and we urge all Texans to come together to show our unwavering support to all who are suffering.”

The killing is the second such massacre this month after another 18-year-old opened fire in a buffalo grocery store.

As the families of victims continue to mourn this tragedy, gun control activists have seized the opportunity to attack republicans. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, “there is no such thing as being ‘pro-life’ while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools.”

Democrat Bernie Sanders commented, “The horrific rampage in TX once again makes clear that there are some very sick people in this country with guns in their hands who should not have them. Congress may not be able to end this problem, but we must at least pass commonsense gun reforms to finally protect the public.”

The harsh attacks by the democrats have been warded off by 2nd amendment activists who argue that what the nation needs is more guns, not less.

Studies have shown that shooters often target unarmed areas to commit violent crimes, and always disregard the anti-concealed carry mandates in place in those areas. Indeed, it was a gun in the hand of an armed individual that succeeded in stopping the shooter.

From the Editorial Board:

The safety of our children is paramount, and if we really care about life, what we need is more guns, not less. More guns in the hands of law enforcement and law-abiding citizens, more constitutional carry states, and less regulation on where a vetted individual can carry their firearm.
This logic is tested, with those areas operating under constitutional carry laws often having significantly lower rates of violent crimes, despite a higher concentration of armed individuals. Criminals will always commit crimes, and criminals will always obtain firearms illegally. The path forward is clear: fewer criminals, and more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens who will stop them.
