Press Release - Late Friday evening Joe Biden told reporters that his administration intends to move U.S. troops to Eastern Europe; he said he specifically plans to move them into countries that are members of NATO.
“I’ll be moving U.S. troops to Eastern Europe and the NATO countries in the near term—not a lot,” the president responded to reporters when he was asked if he had decided how soon he would move troops to Eastern Europe.
This comes as Russian forces pressed ahead with their military buildup near Ukraine, optimizing their ability to seize massive portions of the country's territory as diplomatic prospects between Ukrainian allies (namely NATO and the U.S.) and Russia are dimming. (1)
