Recalling the Hidden Horror of Canada’s “Emergencies” Act

On February 16th, 2022, the Canadian government invoked the novel “Emergencies Act” to quell the growing number of Truckers who filled the streets of Ottawa in protest over Canada’s vaccine mandate.

According to Canada’s Public Safety Minister, Marco Mendicino, the “small groups” engaging in these protests were “driven by an ideology to overthrow the government.” If this man were a United States congressman, he would have labeled them, “insurrectionists.”

In case you don’t remember what that looked like, you can READ MORE HERE.

This emergency action, which, definitively, is only supposed to be enacted during the most extreme emergency situations, was used to increase the governments’ ability to use extraordinary powers to crush opposing views.

There was no emergency, just lawfully protected protests. Yet under this act, the Canadian government was given the power to “commandeer” and tow protestors’ vehicles, ban lawful protests that could “lead” to unlawful behavior, and ultimately crush the peaceful opposition to the Canadian government’s harsh mandates.

Even though these actions were harshly criticized by many on the right, within and even outside of Canada, they were not given nearly enough attention. So, please consider sharing this brief reminder with other patriots like yourself.
