BRIEF ANALYSIS: The Damage of Biden's First 500 Days is Crippling

- News Analysis -

Today, waking up in America can be a shock to your system.

Specifically, trying to figure out how to feed your children while at the same time paying an estimated $100 a week in gas for your 1-hour commute--not to mention finding a used car, the price of which has increased by over 50% YTD.

How did things, to put it plainly, get so bad? Al K. Scott writing for The Portland Post published an article on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, tearing into Biden's recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, where the President essentially claimed that all was well and that America "was back."

The President's WSJ op-ed mentioned once again "big" plans in the works at the Biden Office, but once again, failed to mention what those plans actually were.

There has been nothing proposed that would help lower inflation, on the contrary, all of the policies enacted by the Biden Administration have either driven us into recession or seriously increased inflation.

“inflation is at a 40-year high, supply shortages continue to push prices higher yet, consumer spending is down, the stock market…has tanked, and analysts expect the U.S. economy to enter into a recession within the next two years." Mr. Scott noted.

To expand a little further on the issue of inflation, in what areas have prices increased the most?

The cost of energy--namely that produced by natural gas and fossil fuels, used cars, and hotels rose the most, according to Courtney Vinopal of Quartz. “Fuel was the category with the steepest price hike, increasing by 70% from March 2021.”

Maybe that family vacation will have to wait a while.

Inflation itself rose in the U.S. by 8.5% from 2021 in March, the “biggest year-over-year increase since December of 1981."

Americans can see how inflation is damaging them financially. Even so, President Biden shuns any responsibility and instead blames the war in Ukraine, the supply chain, and even Trump. Shock, right?

Experts and political commentators suggest that Biden and his administration need to simply admit serious mistakes have been made, and proceed to drastically change their economic policy. Only then can we move forward.

Mistakes have indeed been made, and if policy does not change, the negative headlines will continue.
