Evidence Shows We Did It Wrong:

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Evidence shows that not only are many of our Covid-19 prevention measures for K-12 children harmful, but that even our testing of them is fruitless. Dr. Bhattacharya, a physician, economist, and professor at Stanford Medical School recently said,

One may be excused for thinking that more testing is always better, but that isn’t true. Anyone can be infected with the virus, but there is a thousandfold difference in the risk of death between the young and the old. Testing strategy should reflect that.”(1)

In other words, testing is not the key issue that we should be focusing on when it comes to children. But what is? Well, its pretty simple.

It is a well-known fact that adult-to-adult Covid-19 transmission was and is common, same with adult-to-child transmission. But what was (shockingly) missing from reports was that child-to-child and child-to-adult (asymptomatic) transmission was low to none. If your child has a runny nose and/or a cough, keep them home! That is just common sense, Covid-19 or not.

And yet, even with this information, many still insist upon strict mask mandates, social distancing, and building capacity limits on schools because of the children’s risk. Here is the most recently updated version of the CDC school guidelines regarding students:

  • Due to the circulating and highly contagious Delta variant, CDC recommends universal indoor masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status.

  • In addition to universal indoor masking, CDC recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms to reduce transmission risk. When it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet, such as when schools cannot fully re-open while maintaining these distances, it is especially important to layer multiple other prevention strategies, such as screening testing. 2

But what is an adolescent’s risk when it comes to contracting the Coronavirus?

When children contract the virus, they are very likely to be asymptomatic. And even with symptoms their mortality rate is going to be LOWER than the seasonal flu.

Sweden, a major western country that kept schools open for children under 15, had Zero deaths among their 1.8 million students. That was without mask mandates and testing measures. In my opinion, those numbers look pretty good

—but then again, that’s only my opinion,
