The Truth About Climate Change

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Throughout the coverage of severe flooding in Europe as well as wildfires in the West there are two words being repeated among the media more than any other two words in their distorted and confused postmodern vocabulary, 'Climate change.' Misused and misrepresented as it is, climate change does exist and has existed since the beginning of time. Though it probably does not affect humanity quite the way many think.

You have probably heard, if you follow global weather, that the flooding on the River Ahr in Germany (where most of the flood deaths occurred) was caused by climate change. Yet a new study of more than 10,000 rivers around the world shows that most rivers flood significantly less than they did 100 years ago. What was a 50-year flood now is a 152-year flood due to flood control and urbanization. On top of that there is the fact that the German Hydrologist Hannah Cloke, who set up the system to prevent such flooding, has said of the matter, "It was a monumental failure...[on her part]."

The scientific fact of the matter is that most of what is being perpetrated today regarding climate change includes an astonishingly small amount of science. For example, heat waves cause about 120,00o deaths (globally), and the media will not hesitate to drill that fact into your mind. But what is not so commonly talked about is that those heat waves avoid almost 300,000 deaths from cold waves--which historically are much more deadly. In the same way, wild fires--only %11 as bad as they where in the 1900s--are consistently being blamed on climate change. Even though it is common knowledge that these wild fires (particularly in California) are due to poor forest management as well as allowing the construction of residential areas in regions likely to catch fire.

Climate change is real, that's why grapes no longer scatter the meadows of Vinland; however, it is our job to stay properly informed as to just how earths ever changing climate actually affects us.
